Windows

Windows can be a bit confusing for the average homeowner.

A window’s Energy Rating information is stuck to every window and looks something like this,

What do all of these number’s mean??

You need to look for ER rating’s that make sense for your location. A window in Arizona might not work as well for people living in Alaska. You can look at the top of a window’s ER rating sticker and see if it is rated for your area. The windows we use will always be ER rated nationwide!

 * this window is only certified in hotter climates.

AT HOMETECH REMODELING,

  • We ONLY use R-5 windows.
    • R-5 windows are a type of highly-insulating window that are considered to be among the most energy-efficient windows available. They have an R-value of 5, which means they have a high resistance to heat flow. R-5 windows are more efficient than ENERGY STAR windows, which typically have an R-value of 3.
  • We look for windows that are manufactured by the company’s who install them- cutting your cost down significantly.
  • Windows must be gas filled- we prefer Krypton Gas.
    • Argon or Krypton Gas acts as insulation. It behaves the same way that pink insulation in your walls behaves. The only difference here is that….well, we need to see out of our windows!
    • Krypton & Argon Gas are both colorless, odorless, gases used in insulating windows.
    • Krypton gas is 6 times more dense than Argon gas. This density means it’s more effective at slowing down heat transfer.
    • Argon gas is a more cost-effective alternative and is used by most of the big name window companies.
  • Windows must have Double Low-E Glass.
    • Low-emissivity glass, is glass with a microscopic, transparent coating that reduces the amount of heat that passes through it. This coating helps make windows and doors more energy efficient, which can reduce heating and cooling costs.
    • DOUBLE Low-E Glass means that this coating is on both the exterior pane and interior pane.
    • The Low-E glass will also appear tinted. On a sunny day, no one can see into your home but you can see out, just fine.
  • We ONLY use PVC Windows.
    • A PVC window is typically constructed from the most high-quality vinyl which will provide you with the greatest protection against all the common weather elements experienced in the area.
    • Fade Resistant
    • Noise Reducing
    • Fire Resistant
    • Durable
    • Low Maintenance
